Chapter 208 CPP Trainng

The last week of April saw the first tranche of 2008’s potential CPPs convene to undergo an intensive and demanding study period in rural Berkshire. A total of 20 candidates from a wide range of companies and industries and including delegates from Europe, Nigeria and Oman, put themselves through a series of workshops, presentations and testing sessions under the highly capable and experienced Barry Walker CPP and Phil Wood MBE CPP PSP.

The candidates, having sat the examination on Saturday 3rd May, now have a nervous 5-week wait until they discover whether they have been successful in their bid to become ASIS certified. If they do succeed, they will become members of the ever-growing group of security professionals worldwide who can demonstrate and prove that they actually know something about modern security practices and challenges rather than relying on experience alone.

Within ASIS International there are around 6000 CPPs out of a total membership of 35 000! The candidates taking part in the training session in April are showing their commitment to their careers by raising their knowledge and credibility at the cutting edge of the profession.

The next CPP distance learning session, run by ARC Training on behalf of our chapter, will begin in June for the November examination. Some places are available; so if you want to take the plunge and start taking your own professionalism seriously, contact Janet Ward for details.
