CPP & PSP Re-certification

Throughout the world, the ASIS CPP™ (Certified Protection Professional) is unchallenged in being recognised as the number one professional credential in advanced security management. Over 10,000 security management professionals have successfully passed this examination.
In the UK, over 50 security management professionals each year sit CPP, and the number of British security management professionally certified practitioners is second only to North America.

Historically, the examination has been held twice annually on set dates using a pencil and paper examination paper, but due to the dramatic increase in demand for the examination in recent years this system is no longer adequate. Beginning in July, the UK will switch over to computer-based testing (CBT).

CBT has many advantages, including:

  1. Multiple sites across the UK: at Birmingham, Bournemouth, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Manchester, Newcastle and Peterborough.
  2. The ability for candidates to arrange their own test date and time, in the “window” months of July, September, November and May (May, beginning 2010).
  3. The availability of an instant “provisional” result, immediately upon completion of testing.
One thing that won’t be changing, however, is the need to spend approximately 4 months (200 hours) preparing for the examination, which is based on the texts of a specifically-defined set of reference materials.

ARC Training International Ltd and MFD International will be working closely with ASIS Chapter 208 (UK) to develop for 2010 a series of new Preparation Programmes to match the testing “windows”.

Roll-out of CBT for the PSP™ (Physical Security Professional) certification will take place in parallel.
