CPP Programme

Members All,

Barry Walker‘s drive in successfully getting members to undergo the CPP programme has now got us to a stage where we need to reassess the review programme, and having discussed the issue with David Cresswell, our PDC Chair, we need some feedback from yourselves.

The large number of potential candidates for the CPP certification examination this year has led us to reach the conclusion that the existing review programme system is no longer sufficient to cope with future anticipated demand.

Therefore, beginning next year it is proposed that we hold two CPP examinations, one in May and the other in November, according to the timetable for international certification examinations set by ASIS International centrally.

This would necessitate a change to the review programmes. Instead of having two short review programmes (June and October) leading to the November examination, there would be a one week intensive CPP training course immediately prior to each examination. The learning process would begin some months earlier when candidates would be provided with the CPP Study Guide and would be led through monthly distance-learning revision tasks.

This system works well for the PSP, which has a similar success rate to the CPP.

Attendance numbers for each course would be capped at 20, allowing for a more interactive environment than it has been possible to achieve this year. The programme would also endeavour to be more “teaching” in delivery, but this would in no way obviate the need for candidates to begin revision planning some months before.

If you are planning to take the CPP next year or in the coming years David, would like your feedback on the proposed changes and he would be happy to provide more detail on request. David can be reached below.
